It’s that time again! Your favourite time of the week/whenever I feel like it. This week’s Greatest Music videos’ theme is on inanimate objects that move/stop-motion as I love stop-motion and ..inanimate objects that move. Whatever. Anyway at number 5:
#5. Coffee & TV – Blur
I love this music video, and Blur. Britpop ftw. I always laugh at the little Milk Carton, who actually has his own fansite and rightly so. Try and not like him. He’s irresistible. He and the girl Milk Carton were both made by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop which makes it double win. If you do not know who Jim Henson is, you do not deserve to watch this video. In fact, stop reading. Yes. Right now. You are not allowed come back until you know how great he is.
Release Date: 1999
More Videos after the cut!
#4. Virtual Insanity – Jamiroquai.
This took me a fucking long time to get working so you’d better appreciate it. This video is awesome. It was my favourite Jamiroquai song as a kid. What’s really awesome about it is that it was all done in one shot which was then obviously composited. It was also directed by Jonathan Glazer, the genius behind Rabbit in your headlights by UNKLE, previously seen in Greatest Music Videos Part 1. It also features Jay Kay as usual in one of his many awesome hats. I plan to steal them some day…
Release Date: 1996 U.K./1997 U.S.
#3. Ankle Injuries – Fujiya & Miyagi.
I only discovered this video quite recently but it’s awesome. All those dice, must’ve taken forever.
Release Date: 2007
#2. Fell in Love with a Girl – The White Stripes.
I think the video speaks for itself. It was directed by Michael Gondry, whose work was also seen in Greatest Music Videos Part 1.
Release Date: 2002 (I seriously thought it was older than that)
And finally:
#1. Her Morning Elegance – Oren Lavie
I was shown this video about a week ago and knew I had to include it. I love the song and the video goes perfectly with it. It was directed and animated by Yuval and Merav Nathan, an Israeli couple who have some other cool videos they did on their site. The video was shot all still photos (about 3225 according to Lavie’s myspace) using one camera hanging from the ceiling.
Release Date: 2008
That’s all folks!
