so that time of the year has finally come again. to the few this may concern, yes, i am a competitive pokemon game player. there is depth and strategy within that game that goes far beyond what meets the eye. the world championships for competitive battling have been officially detailed on Nintendo’s Pokemon website.

thousands of players will be competing from all over the world. USA, Japan, UK, Germany, France, etc. there will be qualifier tournaments held throughout the US. if you place 1-4th in one of those, then you go to Nationals in St. Louis. world championships this year are finally held at the end of the summer in San Diego. the prizes range from random Nintendo gift packages, to a full payed trip to Tokyo! below are the tournaments pertaining to the US.

Regional Championships-
May 9th: Seattle, WA
May 16th: San Francisco, CA
May 23rd: Phoenix, AZ
May 30th: Dallas, TX
June 6th: Philadelphia, PA
June 13th: Nashville, TN
National Championships-
June 27th: St. Louis, MO
Word Championships-
August 14th: San Diego, CA
the rules are 4 pokemon teams, Double-battle.
-Max level is lv 50.
-No two of the same Pokemon.
-Most Legendaries are banned, as well as Tyranitar. A list of banned pokemon can be found on the official page.
-No two of the same Hold Item on one team.
you must have an official Pokemon Platinum DS game to enter. the tournament will be able to hold 128 players in the Junior Division, and 128 players in the Senior Division for each city. players will be chosen randomly from the group when the event starts to see who makes it in. so get there early!
